We All Need Somebody...

Today networking can be so easy and you can have lots of friends. Yet isn’t it a paradox or a complete irony if you prefer, that we can still be very lonely regardless of our age or understanding of technology? Lack of face-to-face contact from lockdown times during this pandemic as well as an increase in working from home or isolation due to illness or other circumstances may often lead to days when we don’t even see, or speak face-to-face with each other except perhaps via a screen? Even direct telephone calls seem so old-fashioned when we can text, share our stories, post our news, or just voice note each other so that face-to-face communication in real-time is so different nowadays. Shopping, visiting the bank, or having meetings can now be online so why leave home?

Yesterday I shared time with different friends throughout the day for the first time in many months and the time we shared was really special. Our thoughts, laughter, and general chat left us all feeling energized and happy so I just wanted to share how important it is to reach out to others. Why not spare a moment of your day so you can turn away from the screen, pick up the phone and chat in real-time or go for a walk, arrange to meet up or enjoy quality time with a four-legged companion as this may be the best thing you have done in a long while…? Taking yourself outside is great if you can but if you cannot here is an old-fashioned thought- write a card or letter including something positive to share! Just doing this and making sure you post it for real could give joy to the recipient as well as to you for your effort. We all need somebody at some time so go on and reach out. Together we can be better, feel better and stay better- it just needs a little effort…
