Claritas Advent Calendar 2021

 

01 - Light a candle and make a wish for the days ahead to be full of promise. Take a breath and allow yourself time to enjoy the light and to think.

 

02 - Take a break and reduce your stress. Just a few minutes today of this can help you feel more positive and at peace.

 

03 - Enjoy the smell of something you like. Allow it to lift your mood. How does it feel? And what do you appreciate about it?

 

04 - Why not get creative today? You may find lots of benefits to activities such as colouring, quizzes or completing a practical project.

 

05 - Stretch and relax as much as is comfortable for you. Shoulders, arms and back all benefit from just taking a moment and having a really lovely stretch.

 

06 - Happy St Nicholas’ Day. Share the joy!

 

07 - Enjoy the touch of something you love. Take a moment to close your eyes and deepen your awareness. Sensory deprivation can sometimes enhance appreciation of the senses that you have.

 

08 - Awake with gratitude. Take a walk and appreciate the world outside. Nature can do wonderful things to lift our mood.

 

09 - Enjoy the music of today. Having music in your life can leave you feeling positive, peaceful or excited. You choose!

 

10 – Wear a Christmas Jumper or your favourite outfit and look as glamourous or as jolly as you wish! Outward signs sometimes do have inward meanings so smile and have fun!

 

11- Enjoy a taste of what you like with all your senses! Observe it in detail, sniff and inhale, consider its texture and shape in your hand, finally pop in the treat and relish that taste while you can hear the cheering it brings in your head! Bon appétit!

 

12 Either Send a letter to Santa for yourself or encourage a little one you know to do so! His address is:

 Or why not send some cards or emails to those you care about?

 

13  - Wrapping presents

Clear the clutter and get organised. Tidying and organising helps you to be productive. Just a few minutes of focus will make you feel so much better. If you have extra time on your hands perhaps wrap a gift for someone you don’t know and donate it to a charity of your choice? You may be surprised at how happy this makes you feel!

 

14-  Create a decoration

Even if you are as clumsy as me and not as gifted as many creative people, why not make a decoration for your tree or table to enjoy and spend some time enjoying the moment?! Notice your thoughts as you mind is cleared of other concerns and allow yourself time to enjoy the finished item!

 

15- Shopping bags or deliveries?

 If you go shopping online or in person take a breath and think-  is it stuff that you need or someone else needs? Could you offer something else? Gifting a skill, your time or an experience may make memories beyond the material…

 

16- Enjoy a simple pleasure

Choose an activity and do it!  Whatever it is do it well and to the best of your ability. Who knew that tidying or cleaning or just enjoying a great film or listening to music attentively could be such fun?

 

17- Smile

Smiling relieves stress and can be contagious. It sends messages to your brain that all is well. In adversity even an inward smile can help you find courage from the confidence it may trigger.

 

18- Complete a quiz

Challenge yourself to a quiz of your choice! There are lots online and even a wordsearch can help you become more mindful of the present moment. Slowing down helps you to see the journey and breaks up the rush and the pressure that you may feel. If you really want to get involved plan a quiz with others and join up in person or online to have a fun time!

 

19- Show Gratitude

How many people can you thank today? How could you show gratitude in a different way? Even if what we receive may not be what we expect, we can still accept life with gratitude and with self-respect.

 

20- Loving Kindness

Kind words can be short and truly easy to speak but their echoes can be endless. (Mother Teresa) How could you be kind to yourself and to others today?

 

21- Winter Solstice

It is the shortest day of the year! Today the sun turns and from now on the days will grow longer and the nights will grow shorter. Your sleep matters so make sure you are getting enough! Check out the free audio on the website! An early gift for you!

 

22- Dance and move more today

Put your Body and Mind in harmony. Fill your home with joyful sounds and move to the beat that makes you happy! Putting your body in a good place will help your mind too. Workout to music or work to the rhythms you love.

 

23- Complete your checklist

Or just look around and ask what else is there to do?

Praise yourself for all you have done and all yet to do. Perhaps enjoy a good read or just a moment to sit and stare. Today is your day to tie up loose ends if you want to. Remember the choice is always yours!

 

24- Naughty or Nice?

 Which list are you on? What could you do to make it to or stay on the nice list? Spend a moment of self-reflection and without beating yourself up as we know that negative self-talk gets us nowhere, speak kindly to yourself. Imagine your best friend giving you constructive advice- then act on it!

 

 

25- Happy Christmas! Joy and Peace to all!

Choose Joy and Feel Good. Inspire yourself and others to do Good. May Peace and Joy stay with you this Christmas time and in the year ahead!
